Sight Word Practice
This list provided below is a list of sight words identified by our reading curriculum, Literacy by Design. We will be practicing this words in the classroom, but it would also be helpful to practice them at home. The sight words cards listed under the "Literacy" button are the same words from this list, separated into units of study.
The Dolch Sight words are a list of words found commonly in the English language. Many of the words cannot
be sounded out, therefore must be learned by sight. A child's knowledge of the sight words will help build
reading fluency.

Use the lists above as a reference! Students should be able to "automatically" recite the words on each list by the end of First Grade. Typically, students are expected to know the Pre-Primer and Primer lists upon entering First Grade.
